get your very own brazilian name!
"If you’re a fan of Brazilian football, you’ve seen them. Those single names on the back of the jerseys that often have very little to do with the players’ real, given names. Kaká is actually Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite" the offside...
Well, here's your chance to get a brazilian footballer name of your own. This blog's brazilian name is kuwaitinhosa!

girlie song singing men syndrome
A few days ago me and some of the guys were hanging out in our everyday dowaniya doing the usual doings of doing nothing productive but still having a good time. On any given day, someone is always bringing something from somewhere and is trying to forge a new niche to the lethargic but strangely inspired crew of the dowaniya dwellers (I love synonyms). Anyways, one of those days we got an xbox and started playing halo3. Yes grown men do love video games. 4 of us started playing a free for all match in which everyone was on his own trying to shoot down anyone in his hair trigger. After a lot of pre-game bragging we started the game and unfortunately one of my mates was particularly good at this, and soon enough the insults were flying around as much as the virtual bullets. Excitement ensued as the game went on, my friend was on a rampage as he shoots down the first, then the second, and finally I was dropped down hard. My friend ecstatic with his new found bragging rights he began taunting us as he cut us down one after the other, and as his voice started to rise he got so into the groove he suddenly starting yelling "yeahh baby yeaah, it's raiiining men baby halleluiah"! Needless to say the game ended right then and there because we just couldn’t stop laughing.
How many times had manly men falling victim to signing a girlie song? Honestly it's not our fault, some of those girlie songs have bad ass catchy tunes. I've heard a guy happily sing my humps, my lovely lady lumps, and another singing I aint no hollaback girl, hell I've been caught signing am a Barbie girl! I think girls should not be allowed to release catchy songs with words such as girls just wanna have fun ;p
Anyways, I leave you with the mother of all catchy girlie songs, here's The Weather Girl's song It's Raining Men. On a note, the group used to be called 2 Tons of Fun, and after seeing the video for the first time I understood why, so please enjoy 2 tons of bad 80''s video fun and a catchy tune that is bound to get some guy a dose of embarrassment hell some day.

blog action day: kuwait environmental blog
First i want you guys to follow this link and see for yourselves how much the environment has changed in Kuwait. There you would find a satellite picture of Kuwait from 1972, and another one taken in 1997. It is very clear the extent of the environmental damage that has occurred in this country.
Also, a very disturbing statistic shows that Kuwait is ranked as the third most country with both high CO2 emissions per capita and having an extremely high ecological footprint.
The situation in Kuwait isn't pretty indeed and not a lot of people are doing much about it. We have a Kuwaiti Environment Public Authority, but they misspelled environment in the websites banner so am not so sure about it, for that and many other reasons.
The only thing nice i found about Kuwait on google was Alsirhan.com a site documenting all the wildlife in Kuwait. Check it out and learn more about our nature and wildlife, its interesting to see the different animals and birds and plants that share this little country with us.
So as the title of this post suggests, i thought that a good idea would be to have a Kuwaiti environmental blog, a place where average Kuwaities can share their thoughts, suggestions and complaints about the current state of our environment. Why? Because isnt this the idea behind blog action day? I mean it's all good and well to write a post about the environment but i believe this shouldn't be a thing that happens once a year, it should be a continuous project to inform people and make them aware of these not so small problems.
So i would like to know if anyone is interested in being a part of this project, i just thought of this blog idea a few minutes ago and i didnt have a lot of time to think it through so all you're suggestions will be heard and you're participation is most welcome. Actually am hoping someone else would like the idea and take it upon themselves to make it real. It could be a thing to work on over the rest of the break (for those of us who have the rest of the week off :D )

Ramadan reminisce
at the beginning of ramadan i set out to lose somewhere around 5 kilograms. I had no idea how i was gonna do it, especially that i did not renew my gym subscription, and the fact that i knew i was gonna be eating so much since it was ramadan. I had a little poll asking people what they thought the chance's were of me or in general about people losing weight in ramadan. There was a clear divide in the answers. The optional answers to the poll were, "yes" you can lose weight, "no" you cant, and third was "dont worry and just enjoy the food". Most votes fell on either the "yes" or the "dont worry", which would say that most kuwaities are confident in achieving whatever they set out to do or that they simply loved life (and food) too much to worry such things.
Now before i tell you if i lost or gained some weight let me tell you about my daily ramadan habits. At first my habits were normal, i had su7ooor, prayed at around 4AM, slept, woke up around 9, went to work, came back around 3, watched a few shows, had fu6oor, spent time with my family, went out or to dowaniya, then came back. Like i said, a pretty normal routine. Then tiredness began to set in. I was begining to feel the full effects of ramadan. I dont remember feeling this tired ever in my life. My routine slowly began to change day in day out. By the last week and a half of ramadan it looked like this: had su7oor, sleep at around 4AM, wake up at 9, go to work, come back at 3, sleep till fu6oor, have a light meal for abut 30 minutes, go back to sleep, wake up at around 12, have su7oor, sleep at 4AM. One day i came back from work at 2:30 feeling very tired, went to sleep, and never woke up until 11 at night. What was going on? I have no idea but el7imdila that routine has ended now, i dont feel so much as a lazy bum all the time as i did the last 2 weeks. Oh and the good news from all of this is i somehow managed to lose 4 kilograms during my ramadan hibernation, which was a bit surprising to me. But to conclude i have to be honest and say am very glad that ramadan is over so i can finally have some normalcy in my daily routine.

new camp nou seats 106,000 fans
That's the winning design for the remodeling of Barcelona's stadium. It's said that it would hold up to a whopping 106,000 spectators at once, and you know that a city like Barcelona can fill up that stadium without much of an effort. Here are some of the other designs that were looked at as possible alternatives. But in the end it was Foster & Partners who won the project. I have no idea when work would begin and how long it would take, but it looks like the legendary stadium is gonna be even more impressive. Here's some more pictures of the final design.

footballers, porn and british punk'd
You might ask whats up with the title, well there's a common factor between all three and that is England and Chelsea's Shaun Wright-Phillips.
It is not unusual to see professional sportsmen use their earnings to make investments in various fields of business to insure a steady stream of income. It's just smart thinking. However, the vertically challenged winger's recent investment might have had a different motive. Mr. Wright-Phillips has made a 20,000 pound investments in the UK's Babe Central, a tv porn channel. It seems that the new porn king has been dropping by the studio's more and more often, hanging around and partying with his pals and his new employees.
Source: The Sun
Here's the British version of punk'd, hosted by Manchester Utd's Rio Ferdinand and featuring none other than the porn worlds version of Roman Abramovich.

for you ad lovers out there
If you're like me and you like advertisements then i think you'd like this website very much, it has a collection of the latest and most interesting ads from all over the world. Plus it has some links to other advertisement or marketing blogs or agencies. One such link is a website called Ad Blog Arabia where you can find the most creative ads from the arab world. I've been guilty in the past of stealing some of those blogs contents and posting them on this blog of mine, but c'mon, who hasnt done that? I've seen many blogs out there that simply copy paste something they found in another blog and posting it on their own. Is it wrong? Is it plagiarism? I dont think so. First off these blogs are not and should not be held to a journalistic ethical standard. They are after all personal website's where people can post whatever they want. One of the main attractions to blogs, at least in my opinion, is that there arnt any rules. There shouldn't be, thats the point. Bloggers should not be judged by the content of their posts. If you see a blog you dont like, a post that you think is offensive, then just move on to the next blogger. Of coarse criticism is welcome but then again I've seen way too many bloggers get personal and down right nasty to each other.
Woe, how did this post turn out like this, wait let me retrace my train of thought. Anyways if you do like creative ads then i suggest you check out those links i put up, now here's a commercial i stole from one of those site's which i liked...enjoy

wants for sale
According to the secret, if i constantly visualize what i want in life, think about it, see myself getting it and enjoying it, then the universe will work it's magic and mysteriously send me what i have been craving for. A lot of people believe that, but others choose to take the matter out of the universe's hand and get what they want themselves.
Christine and Justin are a young couple from New York who came up with this interesting idea of drawing what they wanted, and selling the painting for the exact price of what it is they wanted. For instance, they drew a painting of an iPhone and they plan to sell that painting for about $600, according to them exactly what it costs to buy one. Another example is a painting of buffalo wings, which they plan to sell for $12.7. I don't know how this is supposed to work for the abs and the joke paintings but the idea is very original and interesting. They sell their paintings on their wantsforsale website.

bored kuwaities are not stupid convention
The host of the show in the stadium says "We are all here today to prove to the world that bored kuwaities are not stupid. Can I have a volunteer?" One bored kuwaiti steps up. The host says to him "What is 15 plus 15?" After 15 or 20 seconds he says "Eighteen."
Obviously everyone is a little disappointed. Then 80,000 bored kuwaities start cheering "Give him another chance, give him another chance." The host says "Well since we've gone to the trouble of getting 80,000 of you here and the world wide press, I guess we can give him another chance."
So he says "What is 5 plus 5?" After nearly 30 seconds he eventually says "Ninety?" The host sighs - everyone is crestfallen and the bored kuwaiti starts crying and 80,000 other bored kuwaities start yelling "Give him another chance, give him another chance."
The host, unsure whether or not he is doing more harm than damage, eventually says "Ok! One more chance. What is 2 plus 2?" The bored kuwaiti closes his eyes and after a whole minute eventually says "Four."
Around the stadium 80,000 bored kuwaities start yelling "Give him another chance, give him another chance."

waiting for prayer
whats worst then waiting for fu6oor is waiting for prayer time. It's 3:22 am, am tired and i want to sleep. I know i have to get up earlier tomorrow cuz for some reason traffic seems to have tripled in ramadan. I already showed up late for work today and i dont wanna do that again. For a moment i think that i should just go to sleep and pray whenever i wake up, but it's ramadan and i know i'll feel guilty.
In my eagerness not to get thirsty tomorrow i drank three glasses of water and am feeling so bloated right now. Dont you hate it when you feel that you must eat because el emsaak is in a few minutes? I planned to lose 5kgs this ramadan, too optimistic it seem's but i wont give up. I've gained a whopping 11kgs since last december and it doesnt feel good. But the thing is i always hear people say it's next to impossible to lose weight in ramadan, especially the kuwaiti ramadan. So i've put up a poll to see what you guys believe, can i lose 5kgs in ramadan or should i stop worrying and just enjoy the 9ab el gafsha? ;p

back
I've been away for a little while now, staying true to my name i was bored with blogging. It happens from time to time. I've been blogging for about 3 years. There were times when i used to be addicted to it. The worst of it was whenever i saw or heard something interesting my first thought would be "am gonna blog about it". There were other times when i just simply forgot about it for weeks.
Anyways, as you all know the recent hype around kuwaiti blog's is the iphone. Apparently some people downloaded some iprogram that they install in the iphone to make it work here in ikuwait. I have no idea how it works and i dont care, i've seen ithe phone and am looking to get ione asap. There are some people in kuwait selling it for 250KD, which is highway robbery in my opinion cuz the iphone only costs $399. That said, i might actually buy it for 250KD, what can i say, am too eager to wait for it to arrive and too lazy to "hack it" and unlock the thing to make it work in kuwait.

What the hell? Lemme see if i understand this, companies are sending random international msgs to arab countries trying to lure the not so young and desperate into getting in long conversations with supposedly young and hot(yeah am sure) girls from god knows where? The things people do for money is almost as sad as the things people do to have some company.

Beirut bank offers plastic surgery loans!
how ugly do you have to be to consider taking a loan just have plastic surgery?
what kind of society even considers having plastic surgery loans available? are people becoming this shallow? ok i've heard about people taking loans for vacation(in kuwait) but i think this is a bit too much. No one appreciates natural beauty anymore, everyone wants to look the same. I can imagine one day when all kuwait will have blonde, straight nosed, full lips, puffy cheeked girls with flat abs! But hey this isnt just for girls, a lot of guys are opting to go under the knife a little bit more self confidence.

kuwaiti boob flash!
yeah that got you attention didnt it?
well it's not fake (actually...you'll see) today i went to a local hotel here in kuwait for work expecting it to be the same old lame, boring stuff we usually get. the work was lame and boring but that would be the last thing you would call what happened today. we were sitting in a meeting room that has windows over looking the hotel's private pool area. As we passed by we saw what looked like 4 kuwaiti girls in their bikini's hanging out next to the pool (this isnt a big deal cuz it's not the first time we see this at the same place) but suddenly one of the people there jumped up and said "hathoool jnoooos"! Like children who just heard the sound of the ice cream man entering the neighbourhood we jumped up and planted our faces firmly on the glass. True there was at least one of them that was definitely a guy, the rest i had some doubts about cuz, well...anyway, one of the girls/guys apparently wanted to have fun with us. I think he/she was thinking I'll give you people something to stare at. As he/she were walking around the pool he/she began squeezing and fondling her/his silicon filled breasts. this wasnt you're average tug at the top, no this was your daddy's checking out which were the ripe melons bilkhithra kinda tug, it was very very thorough. Now even those who werent interested got outta their chairs and suddenly the window became very crowded. Seeing how her/his gimmicks were getting all the attention he/she took it a step further, walked towards the window, looked at everyone, grabbed one side of her bikini top, slid it open to her/his side, grabbed her/his boob and started flaunting it in everyone's faces! To say that we were shocked would be a huge understatement!
Yes people, this happened tody, here in kuwait, not too many hours ago!
i couldnt find an appropriate picture to go with this post but i did think this was funny, look at mandy moores face lol ;p

the cfa
Do you ever get those moments when you feel like your on top of the world, like you can do anything you want no matter how hard it is, the feeling you get right after watching the secret, well i got that moment a while ago. So full of confidence and desire i went ahead and registered myself into the cfa institute and became a candidate. Wohoooooo! I was so pumped up to study and learn (ok you can call me a nerd after that line). But after a while the enthusiasm i had began to fade, then i realized i had just spent close to $900 so i could study for 4 months and take a long ass test that had a relatively 70% chance of failure! Lets just say my feet have firmly landed on the ground and reality had set in. It's not that am not confident enough about my own ability to pass the test, it's just that i didnt know what i was getting myself into and never realized exactly how much effort this is gonna take. Just to give you guys some idea of what needs to be done, i have to read 700+ page books, 6 of them to be exact, at least once. Well i do believe in "tafa'elo bilkhair tajidoooh" so i guess the right attitude would be to say that i will study hard for this test and i will pass it enshala. I got my calculater and am wearing my glasses and i feel ready to take this on....

viva la brazil!
(note: if you dont like football dont bother reading this post)
something you should know about me is that i hate conformists or mainstreamists or whatever you wanna call it! well at least in football. what i mean is when last year everyone started cheering for barca, or the year before it when everyone thought chelsea was the best there is.
Am saying all this cuz of the upcoming copa america finale between argentina and brazil. On any given day i would have cheered with pleasure at seeing brazil lose any game any where, but tonight is a different case. For the past few weeks all i have been hearing about is how great argentina is as a team and how wonderful and talented their players are. OK i agree with that to a certain extent, and it didnt bother me at all. But they crossed the line when someone said that, and i qoute "messi is much better then totti"!!! Now if you dont know, that sentence was nothing short of blasphemy to any true romanista! So as a protest to those very insulting and derogatory words i will be cheering for brazil tonight. I hope Juan breaks messi's leg too ;p

Big Brother in kuwait:
i just heard that kuwait is gonna start monitoring the streets and other public places with cameras on a wide scale. its the same idea as the one the british got in london, where it infamously got to be know as big brother. now i really dont know much about the status of crime in kuwait but it seems to me as this is some what a waste. do we really need t spend all that much( don't know how much but am assuming a lot) on buying, installing and maintaining these cameras? would it deter the desperate foreign worker? will it catch locals draining this country's wealth (ha ha in your dreams). stuff like this reminds me of those dumb americans who blame vidoe games for the violence in thier fucked up schools. but hey, if you think you're safer by having a camera follow your every move then by all means do so, lana aham shay eb hal denya enik tikon mirta7 ;)
