cats night out

a few weeks ago i left home at night to go to dowaniya at around 8ish. As i was walking to my car i could hear a very loud mewo coming from somewhere in the street. Our neighborhood is inhabited by a rather large number of street cats, so it wasnt unusual to hear them. I unlocked my car and stopped my feet on the ground so to scar away anything that might be sitting under the car so i wouldnt accidentally squish them to death. So i get in the car, but i still can hear the cats mewo so i looked around to see if she was close to any of the wheels...nothing. I turn on my engine and the sound fades away. On my way i had the radio on high, therefore i couldnt possibly listen to anything coming from outside. On the way i stopped at a traffic signal when i saw a friend in the car next to me. I roll down my window and we chat a bit. The light turns green and we say g'bye, but before i roll up my window and blast the radio i hear a very clear mewo coming from under my car. Thats when i figured that the noise wasnt from under the car, but it was coming from inside the car! I couldnt stop right there, so for the next 5 minutes all i could hear was the loud mewo. When i finally got there i stopped and got out of the car. The sound had completely stopped by then. I popped the hood, but nothing, i looked under the car, still nothing. No sound. I thought that it either fell out on the road or just jumped out as soon as i stopped. So i go in the dowaniya and hang. 4 hours later i get back into the car and head home. And what do you think i heard along the way? The cats mewo! Still somewhere inside the car. When i finally get home i get a flash light and turn the car inside out looking for the cat. This time she didnt stop her cries, so i followed it until i saw a small head peeping from under the axle in a small pocket of plastic and metal. I try to reach and grab the cat to get it out of there but every time my hand came close, the cat went deeper inside. So i flashed a light towards where it could get out and waited. A few seconds later she slowly began to crawl out. Eventually she gathered the courage to jump out of the car completely. What i saw was the tiniest smallest little kitten ever who had the trip of a life time.

poop+urine+banana peals=great gas!

Biogas that is. Believe it or not, a mixture of human poop and urine, added to banana peals, animal droppings, water hyacinth and algae is the new source of energy being used to power up the light bulbs in Uganda!
"It keeps the environment free of organic wastes, is convenient, time-saving and reduces smoke-related illnesses often associated with the use of firewood."explained Patrick Nalere, the Heifer Project International country director
The mixture creates enough methane gas to safely burn and distribute energy to where it is needed. Btw methane is the same gas found in...never mind. Read the rest of the article from treehugger which will explain how the residents of some of Uganda's towns are putting their shit together, literally, and saving energy.

toys for big boys

We all know the saying "boys will be boys", we've heard it over and over again in songs and books and movies (i think, i only know the song) well, sometimes men will be boys too, and what do most boys need? Well of coarse that would be lots and lots of toys! Every big boy knows that the traditional market serves mostly to the wants of the other gender. Well there's this website i find that caters well to the wanting needs of the big boy inside all of us. Simply put and by their own words, Uncrate is a web magazine for guys who love stuff. Its that simple. Enjoy

Lasik Eye Surgery

First let me just point out that am so glad to have finally gotten this surgery over and done with, and only a few days later am already seeing better then ever before with glasses. Naturally before the surgery i went around and asked a bunch of people i know who've done it before about how they felt about the surgery. Everyone responded well and pointed out how easy it was, like it was easier then going to the dentist.

Yeah Right! I'd rather go to the dentist any day of the week and twice on saturday then to have to go through another Lasik surgery again! Dont get me wrong, it was not painful at all, and am so happy with the results. Only the horror of having to sit there and having your eye lids pried open, watching them cut my cornea, seeing the little metal thingie remove a piece of it, smelling the laser burning the inside of my eye ball is just too much to take! I have never felt so tense in my life. Btw i have extremely sensitive eyes so this might not apply to everyone. Still just imagine, you are seeing every thing that the doctor is doing to your eye! Do you think that this was the hardest part? Not even close. The worst part of having done this procedure is not being able to go out, watch television, or even use the computer for a couple of days! You just stay home and stare at the wall in the dark. Well, i only lasted 2 and half days of what felt like solitary confinement. So, if you're thinking of getting this surgery then go ahead, get it. Its not painful, and it's definitely worth it. But truth be told, it's not as easy as anyone might say.
